Your department and challenge
The main responsibility of the entire Finance business line at the client is to deliver high quality financial and management accounting and financial forecasting, planning and budgeting. The objective of the Financial accounting (FA) department is to arrange for the provision of complete, reliable and timely FA reports to internal stakeholders and external regulators and to act as liaison officer for internal and external supervisory authorities. Besides reporting, an important responsibility is to analyse financial data in accordance with integral accounting processes, legislation and the applicable principles of financial accounting systems and internal auditing. The Manager FA leads this team of approximately ten professionals and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer of the client Europe.
Your main responsibilities
- Responsible for the overall functioning of the department.
- Managing the delivery of monthly, quarterly and annual financials (P&L, balance sheet) for Europe.
- Variance analysis on ledger movement - compare to prior quarter, same quarter prior year and to budgets.
- Production and upload of the group reporting packs - The Netherlands.
- Review of the group reporting packs for the rest of Europe.
- Control account reconciliations to ensure data validity of the information.
- Preparation of month end accrual data, including defining and monitoring process around appropriate and complete accruals.
- Helping identify and draft accounting policies relating to new technical developments.
- Monitoring compliance with the group accounting policies and guidance.
- Liaising with other functions within the client as well as external auditors such as DNB, AFM,Chamber of Commerce etc.
- Key member of the team in helping to fine tune and implement project to shift Finance towards business partnering.
- Manage and monitor capital and treasury activities for Europe.
- Co-manage the budgeting and forecasting process.
- Supervise and motivate employees in carrying out their work.
- Responsible for HR performance management cycle (planning, coaching and appraising).
Your experience and skills
- Bachelor degree in Finance, Economics or related discipline
- Officially recognised accountant (RA) or equivalent accreditation
- At least 5 years of relevant working experience
- Successful track record in leading a middle sized (FA) team
- Good understanding of Asset Management products is a plus
- Fluent in written and spoken English
