Main objectives of the job
•· Developing the accounting policies to be used by Insurance and all the business units for financial reporting in the annual accounts, based on IFRS and Dutch laws and regulations (DNB, AFM and STE).
•· The same for the reporting requirements resulting from the registration of Insurance with the SEC in the US, based on US GAAP and SEC regulations.
•· Preparing and providing instructions regarding financial reporting to business units. Advising the CC&F management and the business units with respect to implementation of that reporting, in consultation with Principals and Head.
•· Providing input for Insurances contribution to national and international consultative bodies related to financial reporting by, and supervision of, financial institutions.
•· Assisting in the coordination of the activities of Employees.
Key responsibilities / Accountabilities
•1. Management
General responsibilities
Supervising P&P Employees: ensuring appropriate means and clear delegation of responsibilities. Planning and monitoring the activities of the department (in coordination with the Principals). Proactively monitors the quality of the activities of the P&P Employees.
HR responsibilities
Coaching and supporting employees.
•2. Monitoring and implementing regulatory developments
- Identifying, monitoring and participating - at both a national and international level - in new regulatory developments regarding financial reporting by, and supervision of, financial institutions, particularly with respect to IFRS, US GAAP and the Dutch Central Bank. Assessing regulations (both drafts and final versions) and analysing their impact on the organisation. With reference to the above, responsible for consulting with other financial institutions both nationally and internationally, as well as with regulatory/supervisory bodies. In addition, ensuring that there positions regarding financial reporting and supervisory regulations gain maximum support.
- Responsible for drafting the content of the financial reports to be published by Insurance, in compliance with the applicable laws and regulations.
- Liaising with external auditors and advisors.
- Assisting in determining there position in national and international consultative bodies related to financial reporting and supervision.
•3. Instructing and advising
- Responsible for the timely, accurate and complete representation of the principles for financial reporting under IFRS and US GAAP in the accounting manuals.
- Advising business units regarding the accurate implementation of principles for financial reporting and supervision.
- Providing education and training to business units regarding the implementation of principles for financial reporting and supervision.
- Providing support and advice to other CC&F and Group Staff departments.
•4. Project Management
- Supporting, and contributing substantially to, meetings and working groups.
- Acting as project manager for specific projects related to financial reporting and supervision.
- Representing P&P/CC&F in working groups and projects.

•§ Flexibility is needed for this role because of the variety of problems faced, as is the ability to rapidly respond to specific problems and the ability to analyse complex situations in an efficient and thorough manner.
•§ Subject to peak loads in relation to timelines with respect to reports to the Management Board and Audit Committee.

Education and experience •§ university graduate •§ Dutch chartered accountant (RA) or equivalent qualification (e.g. CPA) •§ specialist knowledge of, and broad experience with, the financial sector (banking and/or insurance companies) •§ specialist knowledge of, and broad experience with, international regulations (IFRS and US GAAP)
