Introduction

The Policies and Advice team is part of the Financial Accounting & Reporting department in the Group Finance & Control. The accounting and reporting specialists in this team monitor (inter)national developments with regard to financial reporting and supervision for insurance companies, translate these developments into the accounting and reporting policies and formats of the Group and advise the Group's Boards and Businesses on the application thereof.

Your main responsibilities 

As an accounting and reporting specialist within Policies & Advice, you will contribute to the Group's financial reporting principles and formats under IFRS, including the financial reporting requirements from regulators and supervisors.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring (inter)national developments that are relevant for the Group's financial reporting under IFRS in annual and interim accounts and financial reporting to supervisors (including developments at the IASB, AFM, DNB, etc,)
  • Translating these developments into the policies and manuals of the Group
  • Advising and supporting business units in implementing and applying such policies
  • Providing education and training to business units regarding the implementation of new principles for financial reporting and supervision.
  • Advising on the accounting and solvency treatment of specific transactions
  • Developing reporting formats under IFRS (for annual and interim accounts) and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations in the reports
  • Participating in special projects concerning financial reporting
  • Liaising with external auditors and advisors
  • Providing input for the Group's contribution to national and international industry organisations related to financial reporting by, and supervision of, financial institutions

Your experience and skills

 

·         Preferably a University degree in economics or accounting and a qualification as a registered accountant/auditor (RA, CPA or equivalent)

·         Fluency in spoken and written English, good verbal and written communication skills.

·         Good knowledge IFRS

·         At least several years' experience in financial reporting under IFRS in the financial industry

·         Flexibility is needed for this role because of the variety of problems faced, as is the ability to rapidly respond to specific problems and the ability to analyse complex situations in an efficient and thorough manner

·         Ability to translate theoretical outcomes to practical recommendations

·         Results oriented, critical, precise, attention to detail

·         The role includes working with confidential data.
